Teddy Sen runs the London Marathon for Hong Ning
Teddy Sen, an extraordinary blind distance runner, completed the London Marathon successfully on 27th April 2025 to raise funds for Hong Ning. Teddy's awesome effort, courage and perseverance raised R182 177 from local and overseas well-wishers for the Home. We thank everyone for their generosity and support.
Teddy and his pilot, Lauren Smith, finished the race in a time of 5hr 55 minutes, a bit longer than the targeted 5hr 30 minutes. Nonetheless, we are extremely proud of Teddy and Lauren.
56,640 runners crossed the finish line at this year’s London marathon, breaking the world record for the number of finishers at a major marathon.
“It was amazing to be part of a new Guinness world record, but the enormous crowds made running the marathon tougher than expected. There were times when we were forced to walk because we were unable to find a gap between the runners in front of us” said Teddy.
On Saturday 24th May 2025, the committee, staff and residents of Hong Ning held a special luncheon for Teddy not only to thank him for his amazing contribution but also to meet and celebrate with him.
Teddy was accompanied by his wife Joy, his pilot Lauren and his training partners, Agmat and Zayn.
Such was Teddy's generosity that he also brought gift packs for all the residents.
A big thank you to Arthur Ma and everyone involved with preparing and organising a very delicious lunch which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
