Hong Ning hosts diabetes talk

The Talk on Diabetes held at the Hong Ning Chinese Aged Home on Sunday 14 July 2024 was very well attended. The limited 30 seats were all taken. Several of our residents also attended. Sr Louise Pywell from Diabetes SA gave an excellent presentation covering all aspects of this chronic disease. There were some great questions during the Q&A session. Informative handouts were available for all present.

After the talk the visitors were invited to free diabetes and blood pressure testing. Sr Nanette and Sr Mandy assisted Sr Louise during the testing session. The talk provided much needed awareness and info on diabetes. We received great feedback afterwards from the attendees.

A lunch fundraiser was organised in conjunction with the talk. Siu kai, beef flank & rice, vegetable chow mein, spring rolls, congee, cool drinks and water were on sale for sit-down or take-away.

A very big "thank you" to everyone involved in all the organising and preparation for this wellness event. All the time, hard work and details involved contributed to its success.
