Chinese Ambassador visits Hong Ning.

On Thursday 12th January, Hong Ning had the privilege and honour of welcoming His Excellency, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Chen Xiao Dong and his gracious wife Madame Dong. They were accompanied by Consul General Tang Zhong Dong from the Consular Office in Johannesburg.

They were welcomed by Hong Ning Committee members and community leaders. Ambassador Chen was on a whirlwind tour of First Chinatown, Hong Ning Chinese Aged Home and Cyrildene Chinatown.

The delegation was given a guided tour of the facilities by Hong Ning’s Honorary Life President Walter Pon and Chairman Winkin Leong. The party interacted with the residents and showed a genuine interest in their welfare.

The Ambassador gave a generous donation of R50 000 to Hong Ning to be used to purchase essential items for the running of the home.

Mr Robin Xu of China Mall, Johannesburg, also generously donated R50 000 during the visit.

We wish to express our profound gratitude to the Embassy of the PRC and all our major donors for your ongoing generosity, without which we would not be able to continue our mission of caring for the elderly in our community.
