On Saturday 24 May, the Committee, staff and residents of Hong Ning welcomed a very sepcial guest. Teddy Sen, a blind distance runner, ran the London Marathon on April 27 to raise funds for Hong Ning. Teddy was accompanued by his wife Joy, Lauren who piloted him in London and his training partners Agmat and Zayn. Teddy's heroics raised R180k from local and overseas well-wisgers for the home.
Teddy and Lauren finished the race in a time of 5hr 55 minutes, a bit longer the targeted 5hr 30 minutes. "The field was crowded and we struggled to find room overtaking other runner." said Teddy.
56,640 runners crossed the finish line at this year’s London marathon, breaking the world record for the number of finishers at a major marathon.
Hong Ning put on a lucheon to thank Teddy for his contribution and give the residents a chance to meet him. Such was Teddy's generosity that he also brought gift packs for all the residents.
A big thank you also goes to Mr. Arthur Ma for leading the kitchen staff in preparing the delicious lunch.
